The Sidebars in WordPress are sections of the Theme where you can drag-and-drop Widgets of content. The content in the Sidebars usually don’t change much, and are designed to add functionality to the blog. Things like a search box, recent posts, additional navigation, etc. In the blog I am building, I am going to add some Widgets to the Sidebars on the right-side and just above the Footer.
Modify the Right Sidebar
From your Dashboard hover your mouse over Appearance and click Widgets.
Expand the Right Sidebar box and you will see the default Widgets. I am going to remove the following Widgets – Recent Posts, Recent Comments, Archives, and Meta. To delete a Widget, simply expand it and click the red Delete link.
When I have removed that Widgets that I am not going to use it should like this:
Modify the Footer Widgets
Expand the Footer Widget 1, Footer Widget 2, and Footer Widget 3 boxes and you will see that they are empty. We are going to drag-and-drop some Widgets from the left-side of the screen to add content to these empty spots.
Footer Widget 1
In this spot, I am going to add hyperlinks to my About Us and Contact Us Pages by using the Pages Widget.
Footer Widget 2
In this spot, I am going to add hyperlinks to my Legal pages by using the Legal Pages Widget from the WP AutoTerms plugin.
Footer Widget 3
In this spot, I am going to add hyperlinks to recently added Posts by using the Recent Posts Widget.
