To finish setting up our blog, we are going to build out the important Pages that every website needs. In the WordPress world, you can publish Pages or Posts. If you look at the WordPress structure like a book, then Pages are like the Title Page or Table of Contents. Posts are like the Chapters where the real reading occurs. Under the Pages section we will post information about our blog that is important, but doesn’t fit into a specific category or have a published date.
The first entry we will create under Pages is an About Us page. One thing that surprised me as I created and grew new blogs, was how often visitors go to your About Us page. My initial impression was that having this page was something you just did because every website has one. This page is actually a very important asset, and can be used to effectively stand out from the crowd and win over new readers.
Add New Page
On the Main Menu on the left-side, click Pages and on the new screen click the Add New button.
In the Add Title box type About Us.
Underneath the Title add your text and a picture. You can also verify that the Permalinks are working as expected.
You want to provide information about you, about the type of content your reader’s can expect, and why you are an authority on the topic. There is no right or wrong way to create this Page. The most important part is that your enthusiasm and excitement for your blog and readers shines through.
Publish Your New About Us Page
When you are happy with the content of your About Us page, then click the Publish button on the top-right corner.
You will receive a confirmation and you can click View Page to view the page like your readers will see it.
